Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is written in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea, and is intended to comply with Korean privacy regulations as well as general standards applicable in the United States.

 

1. Information We Collect and How We Collect It

We may collect the following types of personal information to provide our services, fulfill contractual obligations, and support member inquiries:

A. Information provided by users:

  1. Required at sign-up:
    • Username, password, gender, age
  2. Profile information entered voluntarily after registration:
    • Nickname, profile picture, location, activity region, voice greeting (for female members)
  3. Optional fields entered voluntarily:
    • Purpose of use, language preferences, hobbies, religion, personality traits, dating preferences, job, background photo, profile message, introductory message
  4. For user verification and safety purposes:
    • Email address, phone number, mobile number, identity verification token (e.g., mobile authentication—used only for fraud prevention), a copy of ID, bank account number

Note: ID copy and account number are used solely for point redemption purposes.

B. Automatically collected data during service use:

  1. Service and user protection data:
    • Date of sign-up, app (client) version, last login, location data, device type, device ID, OS/platform, language, country, usage records, records of misuse, consent to marketing communications and date of consent

Note: Location and device identifiers are never shared with other users. Locations are only shown as distances.

  1. Account deletion or service suspension data:
    • Time and date of account deletion

 

C. Mobile advertising identifiers:

  • We may collect ADID (Android) and IDFA (iOS) for the purpose of measuring and improving personalized advertising.

 

How to opt out:

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
  • iOS: Settings → Privacy → Advertising → Limit Ad Tracking

Note: Disabling ADID/IDFA may affect the functionality of personalized services.

 

D. Collection methods include:

  • Sign-up forms, direct user input, profile edits, service use, analytics tools, calls, emails, faxes, and customer support inquiries.

2. Purpose of Data Collection and Use

We collect and use personal information for the following purposes:

  1. To fulfill service contracts and provide core service features
  2. To manage members and protect users: identity verification, user inquiries, notifications, and prevention of fraudulent use
  3. For service improvement, marketing, and advertising:
    • Cross-service features among our affiliated services (e.g., Tropitalk)
    • Demographic analysis, promotional notifications, participation opportunities, usage statistics, and service effectiveness analysis

3. Sharing and Disclosure of Personal Information

We do not sell or disclose users’ personal information beyond the scope stated in Section 2 without prior consent.

 

Exceptions include:

  • Information explicitly agreed to by the user for disclosure
  • Cross-service use among our owned platforms with similar features (e.g., Tropitalk and others)
  • When required for fulfilling a contract and user consent is impractical due to technical or economic reasons
  • Legal requests from law enforcement agencies in accordance with applicable laws

4. Retention and Disposal of Personal Information

 

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill its purpose:

  1. General retention: Until service cancellation or withdrawal

Exceptions:

  • When under investigation for legal violations: until investigation ends
  • When financial obligations remain: until resolved
  1. Specific retention reasons:
    • Records of fraudulent use: 1 year (to prevent abuse)
    • User reports or suggestions: retained for service improvement

5. Delegation of Personal Information Processing

 

We may outsource tasks to the following third-party service providers to ensure efficient service operation and reward processing:

  • Adsmostly inc

 

Any personal data shared with service partners will be retained only until either the user unsubscribes or the contract is terminated, whichever comes first.

6. Methods of Data Disposal

 

We promptly destroy data when it becomes unnecessary:

  1. Selected data is reviewed and approved for deletion by our Data Protection Officer
  2. Electronic files are permanently erased; paper documents are shredded or incinerated
  3. If retention is required by law, the data is transferred to a separate database

7. Rights of Users and Legal Guardians

 

Users (or guardians of users under 14) have the following rights:

  1. Request to access, correct, delete, or suspend processing of their data
  2. Such requests can be made via written or electronic communication using the forms designated by applicable Korean law
  3. In case of deletion or correction, affected data will not be used until updated
  4. Authorized agents may act on behalf of users with proper documentation
  5. Requests may be restricted under Articles 35(4) and 37(2) of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act
  6. Deleted data is processed and stored only in accordance with our retention policy

8. Use of Location Data and Automatic Collection Tools

  1. We use GPS information solely to calculate and display distances to other users
  2. Users may disable GPS via device settings
  3. No cookies or other tracking devices are used outside of GPS

9. Technical and Administrative Safeguards

 

We implement the following safeguards:

  1. Encryption:

User IDs and passwords are stored in encrypted form. Users are solely responsible for their credentials.

  1. Security measures:
    • Regular backups
    • Firewalls and SSL
    • Antivirus software
    • Ongoing system audits
  2. Access control:
    • Limited staff access
    • Internal education and accountability enforcement
